Sean Williams broke Shakib Al Hasan's record of longest career in T20 International as soon as he took the field against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe scored 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka. Brian Bennett scored a brilliant 81 runs for the team. Veteran player Sean Williams is making a comeback after a long time. In the match against Sri Lanka, Sean could not show much with the bat but he made a world record as soon as he came on the field. Veteran all-rounder Williams is making a comeback in the shortest format after playing for the last time against Bangladesh in May 2024.
Williams retired from T20 Internationals last year against Bangladesh. However, he was recalled to the team ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup African Qualifier, which will take place in September. Williams has broken Shakib Al Hasan's world record as soon as he returned. As soon as he entered this match, he now has the longest T20 International career by any player in history.
Williams and Shakib started their T20 career together in 2006. Shakib retired after playing the T20 World Cup 2024, after which Williams has now made a comeback and left him behind.
