The post of BCCI President is considered to be the most powerful in the cricket world, because he is not only the head of the richest cricket board, but also has the ability to influence world cricket. But he does not get any salary.
Becoming the President of the world's richest and most powerful cricket board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, is no ordinary matter. Whoever takes charge of this board, has the power to influence not only Indian cricket but also world cricket. But how much money does the head of the Indian board get in return? This question often arises in the minds of common cricket lovers. But it will be surprising to know that the BCCI President does not get any kind of monthly salary. Despite this, he earns a lot. But how, we will tell you.
BCCI remains in the headlines every day for some reason or the other, but currently it is in the news due to the change in the post of President. Former legendary all-rounder Roger Binny stepped down from the post of BCCI President as soon as his tenure ended. Now elections are to be held in September 2025 for the appointment of the new president and till then Vice President Rajiv Shukla has taken over this responsibility on an interim basis. In such a situation, the decisions of the board will be taken only with his permission till then.
The President does not get salary
Now the question is, will Rajiv Shukla get more money from BCCI during this time? The answer is no. Actually, it is clear in the constitution of BCCI that the President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer are only honorary posts. This means that they do not work on the salary of BCCI but they are paid by BCCI for attending different works. The board gives allowances to all these officials for attending different meetings and other works or going anywhere.
This is how the officials earn
According to the rules of BCCI, officials like President-Vice President and Secretary get 40 thousand rupees a day for attending any meeting related to BCCI within India. Similarly, for attending any meeting abroad, one gets an allowance of $1000 per day. Apart from meetings, one gets Rs 30,000 per day for attending any work related to BCCI within the country. BCCI itself bears the expenses of business class tickets in the air and stay in luxury hotels for these officials including the president.
