Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a new rule regarding match fixing. This will make the players think ten times before fixing a match. During this time, PCB is going to strictly implement this rule.
Pakistan has always been infamous for match fixing. Many of its players have been caught doing match fixing. All cricket fans still remember the match fixing of Mohammad Aamir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. This fixing ruined the career of all three players. Pakistan Cricket Board has now become strict about match fixing and is going to implement a new rule. During this time, if any player is caught fixing or betting, he will get severe punishment.
PCB took strict action
International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken many steps regarding match fixing. Regarding this, ICC recently directed the cricket boards of all countries to adopt the anti-corruption code. A meeting of the PCB Governing Board was held regarding this matter. In this, the board members were told about the anti-corruption code. After which all the members approved to implement it. Pakistan Cricket Board is going to implement this law in domestic cricket. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has also agreed.
Will get strict punishment
According to this law, if a player is caught doing match fixing or spot fixing, then he will get strict punishment, so that no other player can even think of committing such a crime. Along with this, a fine will also be imposed on that player. In Pakistan, match fixing cases keep coming up from time to time at the domestic level. Now PCB has become very strict on players who make such mistakes.
According to the new rule, if a player is caught fixing for the first time, then he will be given a light punishment, but if the same mistake is repeated again, then the player will have to face a lifetime ban.
What is the punishment?
According to the new rules, if a cricketer is caught doing match fixing or spot fixing, then he can be given a punishment ranging from 5 years to a lifetime ban. On the other hand, a ban of 1 to 5 years can be imposed on a player for betting on cricket.
If a cricketer shares confidential information of the team, then he can also be banned for 1 to 5 years. Similarly, a ban of 2 to 5 years can be imposed for hiding information about corrupt contacts. Apart from this, the cricket board can impose a ban of 2 to 5 years on a player for lying, destroying evidence or refusing to cooperate during investigation.
