Mohammed Shami played an important role in India's victory in the Champions Trophy held in March this year, he was the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 9 wickets. However, after this he did not play any match for India.
Mohammed Shami, who played an international match for the last time in the Champions Trophy 2025, has not been selected in the squad for Asia Cup 2025. Questions are being raised on Shami's retirement after he was ignored in big tournaments and series continuously. When this question was asked to Mohammed Shami, he shut the mouth of his critics by saying, tell me whose life stone have I become that you want me to retire? Shami played an important role in India's victory in the Champions Trophy, he was the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 9 wickets.
Shami told News 24, "If someone has a problem, tell me if my retirement will make their life better. Tell me whose life's stone have I become that you want me to retire? The day I get bored, I will quit the game. You don't select me, but I will keep working hard. You don't select me in the international, I will play in the domestic. I will keep playing somewhere. When you start getting bored, you have to take these decisions. Now is not that time for me."
Mohammed Shami said that he is ready to work hard by playing domestic cricket and his focus is on making a comeback in the Indian team and winning the 2027 ODI World Cup.
He further said, "I have only one dream left, that is to win the ODI World Cup. I want to be a part of that team and perform in such a way that it brings home the ODI World Cup. In 2023, we were very close. We had an inner feeling, but we also had this fear that we were winning consistently, and that was the knockout stage. There was a bit of fear. But the enthusiasm and belief of the fans inspired us. It was a dream that could have been fulfilled, but maybe it was not in my destiny."
