Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who was part of the 2007 T20 World Cup squad, has recently selected India's all-time T20I playing XI. In his team, he has surprised everyone by selecting young players like Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakraborty. Actually, these players have not yet been able to fully confirm their place in the current playing XI, so everyone is surprised to see their name in India's all-time T20I playing XI. In his team, Karthik has neither given place to Arshdeep Singh, who has taken the most wickets for India in this format, nor has he selected star players like Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.
While picking India's all-time T20I playing XI, Dinesh Karthik told Cricbuzz, "I will start with the new player who has made his mark in international cricket in the last few years. And I think he has a bright future. Abhishek Sharma is a great player in this format. He gives you a few balls, but when he gets into rhythm, he is a treat to watch. Brilliant player, great shots, but most importantly, he has tremendous intent. And that is what I like about him."
According to Karthik, Rohit is the best player in the T20I format, and Kohli is probably the greatest T20I player ever.
He further added, "And next, a great player. Rohit Sharma, who has been playing for Team India since the inception of this format. As brilliant as gold; nothing can be better than this. He performs consistently well; he is definitely very talented, but most importantly, he has won the World Cup twice for Team India.
Third, number three. The King. How can the King not be Kohli? Probably the greatest player ever in this format. So, it was very easy to fit him at number three. Probably, I must say, he is one of India's greatest players in all formats. But definitely in the T20 format, he is not a name you can't include in the World XI. Forget Team India's XI."
At number 4, Karthik has chosen current Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, while at number 5 and 6, he has given place to Yuvraj Singh and Hardik Pandya respectively.
At number 7, he has placed MS Dhoni and has also made him the captain of the team. It was under Dhoni's leadership that India became champion for the first time in 2007.
After this, in the remaining 4 slots of bowlers, he has given place to two spinners and two fast bowlers. As two spinners, he has chosen Axar Patel as well as Varun Chakraborty. At the same time, he has kept Jaspreet Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the pacers.
