Former Indian bowling coach and former cricketer Bharat Arun has given a statement about Team India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah which is quite interesting. According to Bharat Arun, BCCI should compensate a bowler like Bumrah so that he can stay fit for the big series, know what is the matter?
Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best bowlers of the current era, no one doubts this but the biggest issue with him is that he keeps getting injured. After the Australia tour, he also got injured on the England tour and he could play only three out of five Test matches. Former bowling coach Bharat Arun has given a special statement on the injuries being suffered by Bumrah. Bharat Arun believes that it is important for fast bowlers to remain safe in the Indian team. He said that a bowler like Bumrah should not play IPL before an important series and BCCI should also compensate him by giving him rest.
What did Bharat Arun say about Bumrah?
Former bowling coach Bharat Arun said an interesting thing on the Bombay Sports Exchange podcast on the injuries being suffered by Jasprit Bumrah. Bharat Arun said, 'Fast bowlers cannot play all three formats. Spinners and batsmen can do this but it is not possible for fast bowlers. IPL is not played before the England series, that would have been useful for Bumrah. You need to protect the bowlers. Bowlers like Bumrah should be given rest before important series and BCCI should compensate them for this because they are part of the contract. This will be good for them.'
So will BCCI give 18 crores to Bumrah for rest?
Bharat Arun has said about giving Jasprit Bumrah a break from IPL before important series but the question here is whether BCCI will give him 18 crores? Mumbai Indians team gives 18 crores to Bumrah for every IPL season. Obviously, if Bumrah takes rest then he will not get this money, so will BCCI pay this amount to Bumrah? And even if BCCI gives this money to Bumrah, what will happen to the loss that Mumbai Indians will have to bear due to the absence of this bowler? Bharat Arun is right in saying that Bumrah should be given rest but it is very difficult to keep him out of IPL. Because it is because of players like Bumrah that IPL has so much TRP, if he does not play then obviously the biggest league of the world will be affected.
