Why did Team India not boycott the T20 Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan? BCCI has given the reason for this. The match between India and Pakistan is to be played on 14 September in Asia Cup 2025.
Before the T20 Asia Cup 2025, a league of retired cricketers was held in England, in which Indian veterans refused to play against Pakistan. The reason behind this was that Pakistan-backed terrorists keep killing innocent people in India and spoil the atmosphere. Apart from this, voices arose on social media, including some former cricketers, that the Indian cricket team should boycott the Asia Cup match against Pakistan. However, the Government of India and BCCI had denied such things and now BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has told why he did not boycott this match?
Devjit Saikia, while talking to NDTV, said about the India vs Pakistan match, "Keeping in mind the technical aspects of the participation of the Indian team in cricket or any other sport, the Sports Department of the Central Government has laid down guidelines and policies. While making the policy, I believe that the Central Government must have taken great care in making helpful guidelines for sports associations at the national level. Accordingly, we can take a decision about participation in any multinational tournament."
Saikia further explained why a complete boycott of Pakistan on the sports platform is not possible? He told that if we do this, we can be banned. Saikia said, "The central government has taken into account all aspects including the interests of the federations and the concerns of the players. In a multinational tournament, in which a team does not participate, it may be banned. In such a situation, emerging players and their careers can be ruined." The T20 Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan will be held in Dubai on 14 September.
