SA20 2025: 541 players selected, every Indian player out

The auction of South Africa's T20 cricket league SA20 will be held in Johannesburg on 9 September. This time a total of 541 players will participate in the auction. But the surprising thing is that not a single Indian has been selected for this auction.

South Africa's T20 cricket league, SA20 is ready for its fourth season. 541 players will participate in the players' auction to be held in Johannesburg on 9 September, including 300 South African and 241 foreign players. Six franchise teams will finalize their 19-member team in this auction. This season of SA20 will start from 26 December 2025. However, this time the name of any Indian player is not included in the auction list, which is quite surprising.

All players from India out

This time more than 800 players had registered for the SA20 league, which is the highest in the four-year history of the tournament. After the review of the franchises, this list was limited to 541 players. Let us tell you, 13 players from India had also registered for the auction. These 13 players are Mahesh Ahir, Sarul Kanwar, Anureet Singh Kathuria, Nikhil Jaga, Mohammad Faid, KS Naveen, Ansari Maroof, Imran Khan, Venkatesh Galipelli, Atul Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Siddharth Kaul and Ankit Rajput. But none of these players have been selected for the auction.

All eyes will be on these players in the auction

All eyes will be on South Africa's T20 captain Aiden Markram in the auction. Along with him, names like South Africa's Anrique Norkhia, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Keshav Maharaj, Tabrez Shamsi, Otniel Bartman, and Gerald Coetzee are also part of the auction. Among the foreign players, Bangladesh's legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the biggest name. England's legendary bowler James Anderson is also going to enter the auction. Alex Hales and Moeen Ali are also among the big players.

84 players can get lucky

A total of 84 players can be bought in the auction for a total amount of 7.37 million US dollars (about 65 crores rupees). In which a maximum of 25 foreign players can be included. Let us tell you, every franchise will have to make a team of 19 players, which will include at least 9 South African players, a maximum of seven foreign players, two under-23 local players, and one wild card selection. The wild card player can be selected till 30 December.
