Pakistan's team announced for World Cup 2025, Fatima Sana is the captain; Iman is the new face

Batsman Iman Fatima, who made her debut in the T20I match against Ireland, has been included in the Pakistani team captained by Fatima Sana for the ICC Women's World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

Basman Iman Fatima, who recently made her international cricket debut through a match in the T20 series against Ireland, has got a place in the Pakistan team for the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Fatima Sana will captain this team, who will lead the team in an ODI World Cup for the first time. The board has selected a 15-member team for this mega event. Iman Fatima also performed brilliantly in Pakistan's National T20 Tournament in May.

Apart from them, Natalia Parvez (eight ODIs, 24 T20s), Rameen Shamim (eight ODIs, 11 T20s), Sadaf Shamas (15 ODIs, 12 T20s), Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 50 T20s), Shawal Zulfiqar (three ODIs, nine T20s) and Saida Arub Shah (two ODIs, 15 T20s) will also play the World Cup for the first time. Arub, Shawal and Iman played the Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2023. 23-year-old Sana, who played for Pakistan in the last World Cup, will captain for the first time in the tournament to be held from 30 September to 2 November.

Making two changes in the Pakistani team that has played the ICC qualifiers, Iman and Sadaf have been included in place of Gul Feroza and Naziha Alvi. Feroza, Alvi, Tuba Hasan, Umm e Hani and Waheeda Akhtar will be reserve players. Pakistan have qualified for the tournament by topping the qualifiers after beating West Indies and Bangladesh. The Pakistani team will play all the group matches at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. If Pakistan make it to the semi-finals on October 29 and the final on November 2, they will also be in Colombo. The same team will also play a three-match ODI series against South Africa in Lahore from September 16 to 22.
