Before the much talked about match between India and Pakistan on September 14 in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in UAE, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said on Friday that the government has clarified the situation regarding sports relations with Pakistan. According to Arun Dhumal, the government has said that the Indian team will have to play with Pakistan in ACC and ICC tournaments.

After the military tension between India and Pakistan after the death of 26 tourists in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April and the Indian Army's Operation Sindoor, there is a lot of opposition on social media in India regarding playing cricket with Pakistan. India's great spinner Harbhajan Singh had said yesterday that there should be no cricket or trade between India and Pakistan until their mutual relations improve. Earlier, Harbhajan was also a part of the India Champions team, which did not play the semi-final against Pakistan in the World Legends Championship held in England in July.
Last month, in the wake of the Pahalgam attack, the Indian government for the first time made a policy regarding sports relations with Pakistan, under which India will not play bilateral tournaments with Pakistan in any sport, even if they are at a neutral venue, but will have to play in multi-country tournaments. Dhumal, while answering questions from journalists on the sidelines of the 'Playcom 2025 Summit' here, said, "I want to wish the Indian team all the best. The Indian government has clarified the situation regarding playing with Pakistan. We will not play bilateral tournaments with Pakistan, but will have to play ACC or ICC Trophy. We will follow the advice of the government.''

When asked about the election of BCCI President, he said, "The nomination process will start within a week. Only then will we get a clear picture of who will be the next president.'' Refusing to comment on the termination of the contract with the Indian team's title sponsor Dream 11 after the government banned online gaming, he said, 'What has happened has happened (Dream 11's departure). I do not want to talk about it, but the process of finding the next sponsor has started. Hopefully it will be known in two-three weeks.''
