Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi has mocked the Pakistani players' thinking, education, and their poor English skills. He said that even a psychiatrist can't teach them anything. His language will be English, and they won't understand what he says.
The Pakistani team is in dire straits ahead of the Super 4 match against India in the Asia Cup. The one-sided manner in which Team India defeated Pakistan in the league stage seems to have dampened the spirits of the neighboring country's players. That's why the Pakistan Cricket Board has hired a motivational speaker named Dr. Raheel ahead of the Super 4 match against India. Meanwhile, former PCB chief Najam Sethi has mocked the Pakistani team, saying that even a psychiatrist can't teach them.
According to some reports, the PCB has hired a psychiatrist, not a motivational speaker. Others are calling him a psychologist. Whatever the case, he has been brought in to care for the mental health of the Pakistani players.
Regarding this, former PCB chief Najam Sethi has said that even a psychiatrist cannot teach Pakistani players anything because they will not understand what he says in English. Sethi said this on the Pakistani news channel Sama TV, and the clip is viral on social media.
Sethi said, "I tried this (appointing a psychiatrist) during my tenure, but the players do not accept such things. The reason for this is that we do not have a culture of going to therapy."
He further said, "It is considered a great insult to us to go to a psychiatrist. Here, when we talk about a psychiatrist, people say he has gone mad, and he is undergoing treatment with a psychiatrist."
The former PCB chief said, "Mental health here means whether he is mad or not... But the most interesting thing is that most of these experts are educated abroad. English is their language." Our poor kids don't speak English. We have to explain things to them in Punjabi or Pashto."
Najam Sethi, mocking the Pakistani team, said, "Their background, their class, or lack of proper education is another issue. Even a psychiatrist can't teach them anything overnight."
