All-rounder Cooper Connolly, playing the fifth ODI, shocked South Africa by taking five wickets for 22 runs, causing the visitors to be all out for 155 in 24.5 overs. Cooper Connolly created history with his brilliant bowling, recording the best bowling figures by an Australian spinner in men's ODI cricket.
All-rounder Cooper Connolly took 5 wickets for 22 runs in 6 overs. In the third ODI, he played a key role in Australia's big win. Cooper Connolly broke Broad Hogg's 20-year-old record. Hogg took five wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs in 2005 in Melbourne against the West Indies. He achieved this feat in his fifth match. With this, he has made it to the list of Australian spinners who have taken a five-wicket haul. This list includes great players like Shane Warne, Adam Zampa, Michael Clarke and Hogg himself.
After Travis Head (142), captain Mitchell Marsh (100), Cameron Green's (unbeaten 118) first ODI century helped Australia score their second-best ODI total of 431 for two wickets. The same home team had failed to cross the 200-run mark while chasing the target in the first two matches of the series.
